High blood pressure is one of the main risk factors for heart disease, yet many people may not be controlling or managing it properly. High blood pressure generally doesn’t show any symptoms, which is precisely why we strongly recommend having yours tested - for a test that takes such a small amount of time, it could make a huge impact on your life.

What do the numbers mean?

It is generally agreed that blood pressure readings at or above 140/90 (one-forty over ninety) are high, but this may differ depending on your circumstances. But what do these numbers mean? Basically, the higher number is the pressure in the arteries as the heart beats (systolic pressure), while the lower number is between beats (diastolic pressure).
